At Eastown, we love to celebrate!

We love to celebrate when steps of faith are taken, when people find freedom, and when people discover how much Jesus loves them. Baptism is one way we get to do this!

Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward decision. Jesus came so that we could experience freedom and life to the fullest. Baptism is a way to share with others that you have made a decision to follow Jesus and the life He has created for you.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

Baptism does not make you a follower of Jesus, it does not save you from your sins, and it is not your ticket to heaven. We receive all of this the moment we put our faith and trust in Jesus. Baptism is the day that our community gets to celebrate this new life together. What’s even more, the stories of faith on baptism Sunday are often used to encourage and strengthen faith in the life of others. This is why God created us for community!

Jesus Himself was baptized. (Matthew 3:16)

Jesus commanded that we be baptized. (Matthew 28:19-20)

Is baptism the next step in your faith journey?
