Walk With Us: A Hope Water Campaign

Water is more than a resource; WATER IS LIFE.

However, millions of people worldwide still lack access to clean water. At Eastown, we're committed to making an impact here locally and helping those hurting around the world, and that's why we proudly support the Hope Water Project with both people and financial resources. This organization has dedicated the last fourteen years to bringing hope through clean water, one well at a time. Their current project is to provide 1,000 new water wells for the Pokot tribe in northwestern Kenya.

Last year, a team from Eastown visited the country to lend hands and we are returning in June. As an Eastown community we want to fund one clean water well. The best part? Whether you are traveling with us to Kenya or not, you can be an integral part of making this possible.

The average person walks an hour each way to find water. When we arrive in Kenya, one of the many things we will do is to take the team on a "water walk" to experience what it's like to walk miles to get dirty water on a daily basis. Here is where you get to participate. We are asking you, your family, your friends to Walk With Us. We are inviting you to carry your own jug of water for 5 days as a reminder of what others experience around the world to access water. This will also give you a glimpse of millions go through each and every day and also an opportunity to share the mission of Hope Water. We hope your join us!

Here’s the plan:

May 19th - Pick up a jug at Eastown and carry it for 5 days.

  • Pick up a jug at Eastown, the Eastown Hub on Sunday evening from 5-6pm or Monday from 8-9am. A minimum donation of $5 is requested for each jug. You can also grab your own 1 gallon water jug and carry it for 5 days. All proceeds will go directly to a well. Carry it for five days.

  • Drink only water from your jug and donate what you would typically spend on other beverages to the water crisis. Our goal is to raise $25,000 to dig a clean water well.

  • Pray for our team as they travel to Kenya and build relationship with our Pokot sisters and brothers.

Ways to Include Your Kids

1. Free Resource Full of Videos and Activities to Grow Generosity and Compassion within your Kids

Consider also watching the video at the top of this website page as a whole family to hear what the Hope Water Project is all about and how you and your kids can be a part of it!

2. Building Compassion through Sacrifice - We will have small jugs we will be giving out on May 19th that we are encouraging your kids to carry throughout the week as their only water source to fill up as we believe a heart of compassion can start with experiencing a little bit of inconvenience in their own lives.

3. Contributing Personally - We are encouraging our EKIDS every week to find ways they can make a few extra dollars around the house or through selling unneeded items to be able to contribute towards building a well in Kenya. We believe that this act of giving up their own finances or wants in their lives to help those with big needs can allow them to feel equally a part of this mission.

4. Praying - One of the best things we can do is be in prayer for those who are lacking clean water. Consider making time in prayer with your kids a part of your daily school drive, dinner, or bedtime routine.
